Routing Nodes

Routing nodes are coloured boxes at intersections. They play an important role in autorouting.

Blue node – Dead-end. All dead-end roads must have a blue coloured routing node. If it doesn’t, autorouting cannot reach this road. To add a routing node to a dead-end polyline, right-click on the end-node > Point properties > Check This point is a routing graph node

Only dead-end nodes need to be manually checked as a routing node. All other routing nodes are automatically checked when you connect the nodes.

White node – continuation node where the ends of two polylines meet.

Yellow node – T-junction

Green node – Crossroad

Purple – Complicated intersection with more than 4 road tributaries

Pay careful attention when you have just connected an intersection. You should see the colour as outlined above. If you do not see the expected colour – say you connected a T-junction and see a Green node instead of a Yellow node, this means there is an overlapping node in one of the polyline. Discover the duplicate node by  using the Edit points tool and moving the whole intersection to one side to discover the extra node and delete it. The node colour should now be Yellow. Don’t forget to move the intersection back to its original position.
