Trimming your tracks allows you to send a mapper only the missing roads that you want drawn into the map. This saves the mapper a lot of time if your tracklog is very long. Also, you would want to trim a tracklog if you don’t want people to know where you live.
To trim your tracklogs, do this:
1. Open your tracklogs in Mapsource
2. Zoom in to the area where you want to trim your tracklog
3. Choose from Tools Menu > Track Divide
4. Hilite the tracklog your want to trim in the Tracks tab
5. Point to where you want to trim your tracklog – at this juncture the tracklog will hilite in two different colours so you know which leg you’re cutting off. Click to divide.
6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 until you are satisfied with the cut then right click on the unwanted tracklogs in the Tracks tab and choose Delete Tracks
7. Save the tracklog under a different name so as to not lose your original tracklogs.
8. Submit the tracklogs to the mapper in charge either via email, forum, webmap or OSTicket.
