Tracking roads requires you to turn on the 1 second tracklogging on your GPS. The method to do this is different for each GPS. Some GPS allows you to determine the colour of your tracklogs in which case you should set it to a colour other than default. Red or green appears clearly on the map when you are tracing your tracklogs. If you have an SD Card in your GPS, its advisable to save your tracklogs there so you do not waste precious read-write cycles on your internal memory.
