TortoiseSVN is the subversion client for windows. It is similar to a Wiki except that it is meant for files. When a file is edited many times and by different people, we have to track what was changed. This philosophy is called versioning.
Versioning of Masmap tiles allows us to:
1. Track what map object was added or deleted at which revision number and by whom
2. Revert back to an older map version in the event of a mapping mishap
3. As a means of travelling back in time. Our road changes all the time, some are straightened, others turned into double carriageways and yet others renamed from British roadnames to something local. Versioning allow us to see those changes on a map.
You may download TortoiseSVN fromĀ here. If you’re unsure which version to choose, download theĀ 32 Bit version. Once you have TortoiseSVN installed you need to reboot your computer.
